Harold “Harry” E. Doweiko, 64, formerly of Onalaska, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018, after a ten-year battle with a brain tumor.

Harry was born and raised in Rhode Island and moved to the Midwest in 1976 to begin graduate school and remained in the Midwest since that time, earning his doctorate from the University of South Dakota in 1982.

Harry was an avid amateur astronomer since childhood and held a lifelong interest in history.  As an adult, he became interested in paleontology.  He was an author of minor consequence.  Although he was introduced to golf late in life, he became an avid, if unskilled, golfer.  He began to work as a psychologist in 1982 and continued to work as a psychologist until April of 2013.  Harry had an offbeat sense of humor and regrets being unable to share additional jokes with friends and coworkers.

Harry is survived by his mother, Gertrude Doweiko; four brothers, James (Nancy, deceased), David (Lorraine), John (Dorothy), and Donald; and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Harry James Doweiko, and his beloved wife, Jeanette “Jan” M. Doweiko.
